The only good thing I can say about the site is the location. The campsite is located overlooking the beach.
The toilet and shower rooms have a code to gain entry...not good if your bursting to go to the toilet. No facilities on the campsite eg: little shop to get supplies.
The drain to empty out the waste is situated in the wrong area. It's right by the entrance and reception which causes somewhat of a problem and the drain isn't big enough for large vehicles.
The campsite is overpriced for what you get.
Wouldn't stay here again!
Wow! What a beach right on the doorstep. 2 miles of sand. Doggy heaven. Good facilities, washing room, laundry, toilets, showers and small shop with ice cream. So peaceful, didn't really hear the road through the night. Porpoises in the bay to look out for. A great stop over or longer stay.
Having experienced other camping sites around the NC500, 10 days of friendly greetings, 10 days of warm welcomes, 10 days of nothing is too much trouble, we arrived here to a very rude sarcastic greeting!! I was somewhat taken aback!! We arrived 10 mins early and was sarcastically pointed out to leave the campsite we’d entered and to read the sign that was on the floor!!! Don’t come back until 1! Wow! Not a warm friendly welcome here. It felt more like a military operation. Uptight is a word I would use. I explained we didn’t see the sign and was told to leave the site!
The campsite itself was clean, the location is good. no shop for food top ups, the beach looked a bit scruffy, untidy looking, it’s a great beach for walking dogs on though. There is a Tesco or Lidl in the town you can use to top up. Two petrol stations in town as well. We won’t be returning to this campsite.
What a fantastic site. The location is just wonderful with access straight onto a fabulous sweeping sandy beach. The managers are the most helpful, lovely people who can’t do enough to help everyone. Thoroughly recommend this stopover for anyone on the NC500, advisable to stay 2 nights here. Well worth it if you wish to relax and enjoy the space and serenity.
A great Campsite on the NC500 route. Showers were outstanding, clean with plenty of hot water. Recommended 100 %
Stopped for 2 nights while on the NC500. Lovely site, spotless facilities, views of the sea & a great welcome. Literally a stone’s throw from a gorgeous sandy beach. A 20 minute walk along the road via pavement to the very pleasant Northern Sands Hotel & Bar. Had a tasty meal and received warm hospitality.
Good views of dunnet bay beach however very expensive for what you get. We had no access too wifi even though website claimed to have it, the ground was very unlevel, half the bays were inaccessible because the grass was newly done.
Whether doing the NC500 or taking a more relaxed journey through this wonderful part of the country this site is highly recommended.
I can not imagine a better location. It is situated just behind the dunes of the beach and a short walk from pleasant forest trails. It's facilities are comprehensive and always clean and well maintained.
